The English Curriculum Development Institute (ECDI) was founded to address the critical gap in Afghanistan’s English education sector: the absence of structured, contextually relevant curricula and standardized teacher development. For years, English instruction relied on imported materials that failed to reflect Afghan learners’ needs. ECDI provides a sustainable solution by designing locally grounded yet internationally credible curricula, offering TEFL-based teacher training programs, and delivering research-informed consultancy services. Its CEFR-aligned curriculum map (A1–B2) ensures learners progress through realistic outcomes, functional language use, and localized contexts such as family, campus life, and community services. Guided by values of academic integrity, localization with standards, teacher empowerment, quality assurance, and collaboration, ECDI partners with universities, private academies, NGOs, and enterprises to strengthen Afghanistan’s educational ecosystem. Founded by Ebadullah Mohammadi, CEO, with nearly a decade of ESL/EFL expertise, ECDI reflects a long-term commitment to building a sustainable, standards-based English education system that is both globally respected and locally meaningful.
